Utah celebrates 75 years of Lone Ranger filming

The Lone Ranger (Disney) which launches 9 August in UK cinemas, will be the latest in a long list of over 900 films set against the incredible scenery that Utah offers.  It is a fitting tribute to Utah that 75 years ago, in 1938 the Lone Ranger was first filmed in Kanab, Utah, and later the TV series was also filmed there through the 1950s-60s.

The new Lone Ranger was filmed in locations including Monument Valley, Arches National Park near Moab, as well as Dead Horse State Park with its dramatic views over the winding Colorado River 2000 feet below and across Canyonlands National Park.

Starring Armie Hammer, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and many other celebrities, is billed as a thrilling adventure infused with action and humour.
