The Montréal Snow Village returns for its second year. In the heart of Montréal accessible by the Metro (underground), it was featured by some 50 tour operators last year and is looking to add more this. This year the Snow Village will be modeled on the New York city skyline with a 25 room Ice Hotel, igloos, a restaurant, a bar and spectacular Ice Chapel where couples can get married. The Ritz Hotel has reopened after a £125 million restoration, where no expense was spared in adding contemporary facilities to the splendour of the past. The Grande Dame of Sherbrooke Street is back.http://www.ritzmontreal.com/en/

This Winter’s News….

This Winter Crystal’s best prices for ski holidays in North America are to Tremblant (from £695) – regularly voted the best ski resort in the east of North America beating its US rivals. The resort is 1.5 hours from Montréal (itself under 7 hours flight from the UK) and it’s benefitting from £630,000 on improvements to the mountain including new snow-making equipment to offer long seasons. www.tremblant.com

NEW for this winter, the £40 million Hotel La Ferme is now open marking a key phase in the development project of Le Massif in Québec. This new 145 room hotel built on the site of a historic barn in Baie St Paul, an artist village by the St Lawrence River, is in the middle of Charlevoix an hour or so east of Québec City.  The Le Massif train which launched last year runs to the hotel via the ski resort of Le Massif and there is also a shuttle train service. www.lemassif.com
