Bavaria 0.0% Shortlisted In People’s Choice Category

For The 2016 Zero Alcohol Awards

*Winners Revealed on 25th February At Central London Ceremony*

Bavaria, a 300 year old independently owned brewery, today announced that its 0.0% Original non-alcoholic beer has been shortlisted in the People’s Choice category for the 2016 Zero Alcohol Awards. The awards have been created by Alcohol Concern to acknowledge and celebrate the growing number of drink options – such as mocktails, softails and alcohol-free beers and wines – available to consumers that choose a non-alcoholic or low alcohol lifestyle.

Rob Page, Managing Director at Bavaria UK comments; “This is a particularly prestigious and meaningful nomination for us as the People’s Choice category was voted for by participants in Alcohol Concern’s Dry January; an initiative that we fully support and encourage. Hopefully our place on the shortlist also reflects the fact that we have developed a zero percent beer that delivers an authentic pilsner taste, clear hop flavour, full body and strong bite.”

Bavaria 0.0% Original is a truly zero alcohol beer. Where other non-alcoholic beers are brewed with alcohol that is later stripped out, Bavaria 0.0% Original is brewed without alcohol all through the process. It is brewed with four natural ingredients, no artificial sweeteners and with certified mineral water from Bavaria’s own spring. In addition, Bavaria 0.0% Original has almost half the calories of a regular glass of beer, 68% less sugar than most fruit juices and 41% fewer calories than the average soft drink or soda.[1]

The Zero Alcohol Awards Ceremony will take place on Thursday 25th February 2016 at The Barbican, in London. For more details, please visit

The Bavaria 0.0% secret is in the brewing process: Where other breweries brew a pilsner and subsequently extract the alcohol by means of filtration or evaporation, Bavaria is the only brewery that brews 0.0% in accordance with a method that does not produce any alcohol. By having full control of the fermentation process, Bavaria makes sure that alcohol simply cannot be formed. Bavaria has patented this method of brewing and it continues to be unique in the world of brewing to date.

Since Bavaria 0.0% is brewed completely free from alcohol, there is no need to filter and evaporate any alcohol thereby preventing the loss of vital aromas. That guarantees the unique and real beer flavour of Bavaria 0.0%.

The Bavaria brewery is in the heart of the beautiful Dutch countryside, in the small village of Lieshout. It’s here that for almost 300 years, the Swinkels family have been brewing beer, first for the villagers, then for Eindhoven and Holland, and eventually, for the world. The brewery is still one hundred percent family owned, and today it is run by the seventh generation of Swinkels.

But this is not a small-scale craft brewery, it is the hub of an independent brewing empire that produces 600 million litres of beer annually with a turnover in excess of €400 million. Exporting to 120 countries worldwide, Bavaria produces a range of beers and those that are available in the UK include Bavaria Premium 5% Pilsner, Bavaria 0.0% Original and Bavaria 0.0% Wit (a white beer).
